Island of Fire is the third book in the griptacular Unwanteds series. In this one, Artimé (the magical land where creative kids are transported when they are 13) is starting to fall apart ever since Marcus Today, the leader of Artimé, was killed. If you don’t know what I am talking about, see the first book of The Unwanteds that I reviewed. In The Island of Fire, Alex Stowe (the main character)’s friends are trapped at an island where they are put to work after the savages on the island put a thorn necklace around their throats so they can’t talk, and acid in their eyes so they can’t see. Alex wants to rescue them but is torn because everyone is declaring him the new leader of Artimé, and he has to figure out how to get Artimé back to normal again. This is a thrilling adventure story that keeps you gripped and is hard to put down, but I didn’t like it as much as the first or second books, just because there was more stuff happening in the first two. It is kind of a mixture between Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, but for ages 8-12. The fourth book in the series is coming out in 2014, in case you were wondering. I really suggest this book if you are looking for a great story that will keep you turning pages!!
