Jake and Lily is a story about twins who do everything together—they stick to each other like glue. But one day all of that changes. Jake starts to act like he is way better than Lily and never does anything with her anymore. He starts hanging out with some bullies and they pick on the new kid in town. Meanwhile, Lily tries to get a life of her own without Jake. She tries to get a hobby, make some friends, and forget about Jake, but she just can’t. This was fun for me to read because I am a twin so I could relate to how one of them felt about the other. For example, when they argue over whether it matters who is older or not. It’s funny how Jerry Spinelli writes this book, because it feels like the twins are actually talking to each other in real life, or having a one-sided conversation with you. Anyway, the end left me feeling satisfied with the story, and now that I look back on the book, it wasn’t my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. I would suggest this for ages 10-13.
